Safety Tips

Updates for New Residents
Fall 2006

FOR EVERYONE’S SAFETY:
Please do not enter the fenced area at any time, even if the gates are open, as heavy equipment is in use in those areas. There are many hazards within this area and it is not safe. If there is a time when you need access to this area contact the Jardine Apartments office.

Please remind children not to play around construction equipment or fenced areas. Temporary playgrounds have been erected beside washhouses #2 and #5.

The anticipated work hours for the contractor will be Monday through Saturday from 6 am to 7 pm.

Though some parking appears to have been lost to “staging areas”, we have verified that there is sufficient parking in relation to the number of parking permits which have been issued. The gravel temporary parking lots are for everyone’s use. Please park there if you need a spot. Due to parking space allocation no temporary parking permits will be issued to residents for their guests.

Speed bumps are installed on Roof Drive and additional signs have been placed to reduce traffic and confusion. KSUPD will be doing extra patrols at Jardine. Please watch your speed in your vehicles and do not try to avoid the speed bumps or you may get a ticket.

There is one main entrance to the Frith Community Center, which is located on the east side off of Jarvis Dr. A handicap accessible ramp has been created on the east side, please use the sidewalk which is located on the south side of the Jardine Welcome Center to enter the community center.

Residents of S building will need to use the dumpster located in front of R or T buildings. The recycling trailer can be found along the street between X and W buildings.

Due to construction, the water in the washhouse may be rusty and cloudy from time to time. There is a product available at local retail stores designed to remove discoloration from clothing. The clarity of the water is not always in our control. Due to this challenge you may decide to patronize an outside laundry until we are through with the major construction of this project.

Please be aware that the construction being completed on Denison Ave. is not being completed by our contractor. You will need to exercise extreme caution when approaching the construction on Denison.

If you have any questions about the demolition or construction process of the redevelopment project, please contact Deborah Kohl by email at dkohl@k-state.edu or by phone at 785-532-3790.
