Stephanie Bannister - KSU Housing and Dining Associate Director - Apartment Living

Stephanie Bannister is in her tenth year with the Department of Housing and Dining Services for Apartment Living.  Previously, she worked at the University of Kansas as a Residence Life Coordinator, and traveled nation wide as a consultant for Alpha Gamma Delta International Sorority.  She has a B.A. from Fort Hays State University, an M.S. in from the University of Kansas, and is currently finishing her doctorate in Education, at K-State.  She is a Master Facilitator for the Kansas Health Foundation’s leadership initiative. Stephanie’s husband, Grant, and their children Sydney, Will, and Grace, keep her entertained and focused on the joy of life.  She also enjoys attending K-State sporting events, mowing the lawn, and raising her 3 children.

 

 

 

Connie Bingham - Administrative Officer

Connie is in her 20th year at the Jardine Apartment Complex, where she enjoys helping residents feel at home.  In addition to coordinating all of the day-to-day functions of the office, Connie is a fabulous resource for staff and residents alike, and has truly poured herself into making Jardine a community ofexcellence. When she is not at the "J", Connie is busy caring for her children and grandchildren who live in the Flint Hills and Ohio, and spending time camping with her husband Lowell.

 

 

Jayme Brown - Administrative Assistant

Jayme is the first face you will likely see when you visit the Jardine Apartment Office. She has been with Jardine for almost 3 years. Raised in Wamego, KS, Jayme graduated from Wamego High School and is looking forward to possibly attending K-State in the near future.  Jayme enjoys spending time with her two children who are in middle and high school here in Manhattan.

Christine Feit - Apartment Area Coordinator

Christine Feit is excited to be a part of the Kansas State University family and feels privileged to be working with theresidents and staff of Jardine.  Christine’s responsibilities include supervising the Assistant Coordinators and Resident Assistant of the Denison Neighborhood and working with the Residents’ Council.  Her favorite thing about Jardine is the family friendly atmosphere of the community.  In her free time, Christine enjoys working out at the rec, enjoying outdoor activities, and reading.  She also enjoys traveling with her husband to visit family and friends throughout the United States.

 

Tolu Akande-Assistant Coordinator for Apartment Living

Hello, my name is Mofolorunso Tolulope Akande (but you can call me Tolu!). I am a staff member in the Denison Neighborhood and love serving the staff and people here at the "J".  I enjoy meeting new people, learning new languages and traveling.  I received my undergraduate degree in Radio and Television from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and will be pursuing a graduate degree in International Relations. I am blessed to be in the midst of such a diverse community and really enjoy living at Jardine. (Big-ups to my Denison Neighborhood Family!)

 

 

Samer Shaur Ali-Assistant Coordinator for Apartment Living

Samer Shaur Ali hails from Pakistan and has begun his first year on staff at Jardine. He is excited to be part of our dynamic
and diverse community. He has always been interested in meeting new people from different cultures and is thrilled that his new job at Jardine will provide him with a unique opportunity to do just that. As ann international student, Samer expects to collect diverse experiences along with his graduate study in Grain Science and Extrusion Technology.

 

 

Jesse Peters-Resident Assistant

My name is Jesse Peters. This fall I will be a Resident Assistant in the Denison Neighborhood for buildings 2 and 3. I am originally from Lansing, Kansas a small town outside of Kansas City. I am pursuing a degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Social Sciences. This coming year I hope to bring my outgoing and comical personality to Jardine to help strengthen the community.  In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, playing guitar, singing, reading, and working out.  I am excited for the coming year and hope to make many new friends and memories!

 

Elizabeth Devlin-Resident Assistant

Elizabeth is excited to start her first year Jardine. She is a senior majoring in Mass Communications with a minor in Leadership Studies. Elizabeth is from Conway Springs, KS. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys playing tennis, the piano, and reading. She looks forward to the year at K-State and getting to know everyone at Jardine.

 

 

Sam Holden-Resident Assistant

 This is Sam\'s first year as a member of the Jardine staff. Sam was a resident assistant in the halls for three years. He is a senior in secondary education. In his free time, Sam enjoys playing sports and lifting. Sam is looking forward to being part of the Jardine community!

 

 LaKrystal McKnight- Resident Assistant

I am a Junior in Elementary Education with an area of concentration in teaching English as a Second Language. I am also pursuing a minor in Leadership Studies and Programs. I am from Overland Park, KS where my family of my mom, dad, and my two little sisters live. This is my first year at Jardine and I am very excited to be a part of the Jardine team and very eager to get involved! I love people and I enjoy getting to work with others and being able to help them in any way that I can. I am actively involved on campus and I am a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. I am a big family and friends person and I love to spend time with both! Some of my hobbies are scrapbooking, shopping, and going to the movies.

 

 

Drew Manker-Resident Assistant

Drew is 20 years old and a transfer student from Allen County Community College. This is his first year at Jardine and K-State, and he is very excited to be joining the Jardine team. Majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Drew is a little competitive and likes to play sports as well as almost any game. Drew loves animals and has three dogs, two cats, seven reptiles, and eight fish at home in Topeka. Video games and interacting with people are things Drew looks forward to this upcoming year.

Kathy VanSteenis - Apartment Area Coordinator

“No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care…about them!”

Kathy is beginning her third year as the Plaza Neighborhood Area Coordinator. 

She received her Bachelors degree in Communications from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, and her Masters degree in College Student Personnel Administration from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. 

Kathy grew up near Pella, Iowa and enjoys going home to visit family and friends.  In her spare time Kathy loves to play card and board games, read, and participate in outdoor activities such as camping and canoeing. 

Kathy is really looking forward to the upcoming year as the community begins to see and benefit from all of the changes that the redevelopment will provide, not only the physical structure changes but also the student population that we will have the ability to serve.   

Alisha Hanshaw- Assistant Coordinator for Apartment Living

I am Alisha!  I was born and raised in central Nebraska, having one little sister – who is 20 years old
now!  I received my undergraduate degree in 2006 from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in Organizational Communications.  I have completed one year of a Student Affairs masters program and am now transitioning to K-State to complete it and pick up a certificate in Academic Advising along the way.  This past year, I embarked on a professional student affairs job as a Residence Director at Hastings College in Hastings, NE.  It was a great experience for me as I gained understanding of the private school environment.  I am a bubbly people person, who could carry a conversation with the wall. Everyone has something that they do to relieve stress, mine is scrap-booking!  I love to get crafty! I have the most amazing boyfriend ever, Josh!  He is my biggest fan and best supporter.  I am very much looking forward to being in Manhattan and at K-State!  Although I am a Husker I suppose I can sport some purple occasionally.  J  This is going to be a fabulous experience! 

 

Adam Young- Resident Assistant

Adam is in his senior year at Kansas State, and this is his second year at Jardine.  He is very excited to be a part of its ever-changing community.  He was born and raised a Wildcat in Salina, Kansas.  He is currently majoring in Architectural Engineering, and is the President of the local chapter of the Architectural Engineering Institute, Treasurer of the National Architectural Engineering Institute, and Librarian/Historian of the Illuminating Engineering Society.  In his spare time you will find him playing tennis, running, swimming, and camping.  His favorite pastime is watching movies and relaxing.

 

Corey Glaze-Resident Assistant 

Corey is beginning his second year in the Jardine Community, and his first year as part of the Plaza staff.  He is a senior at K-State working towards a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.  As a graduate of Washburn Rural High School in Topeka, Corey loves Manhattan because of its small town atmosphere and the friendliness of everyone in town.  His hobbies include playing different sports, board games, watching movies and having fun with friends.  He especially enjoys going to K-State football and basketball games.  He looks forward to getting to know everyone at Jardine and making it a memorable and enjoyable year.

Tonya Wessel- Apartment Area Coordinator

Tonya joined the Kansas State family in July 2006 from the state of Indiana. A graduate of the department of counseling and development college student personnel program at Purdue University, she is looking forward to working with the students and staff at Jardine Apartments. Tonya’s role as West End Area Coordinator will include supervising staff, serving on campus committees, and building the community among the residents of Jardine in the midst of redevelopment. She has a passion for creative programming and working with and learning from others. Tonya tries to live out her philosophy in her job daily striving to develop meaningful, compassionate relationships, while facilitating others to reach their full potential. Prior to coming to Kansas State University she worked in graduate and international student housing at Purdue University.  Tonya played an active role in establishing the University Residences Alternative Spring Break service trip. In her spare time Tonya enjoys reading, music, cooking, making greeting cards…and traveling, as she has family in Pennsylvania, California, and Indiana. She looks forward to making Manhattan her home.

 

 

Shawn Ryan-Assistant Coordinator for Apartment Living

Shawn Ryan is thrilled to be working in the West End as an Assistant Coordinator. Born a few blocks from Fenway Park and raised in Boston, Shawn served in the U.S. Air Force after high school, and then graduated to Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor\\\'s in Secondary Education. After graduation, Shawn joined the Peace Corps and taught English in the Republic of Moldova. Now that he\\\'s  back in the U.S., Shawn couldn\\\'t be happier to reunite with the Big XII and attend K-State. In his free time, Shawn likes to exercise, spend time with friends, and listen to traditional Irish music.

  

Mandy Gramkow-Assistant Coordinator for Apartment Living

Mandy is very excited about serving as an Assistant Coordinator for the West End Neighborhood. She is in her second year of graduate school pursuing a Master’s degree in College Student Personnel Services – Administration. Mandy received her Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Communications and Journalism from K-State in December 2005.

Mandy grew up on a farm in small-town, Rockwell, Iowa (north-central) and enjoys going home to visit friends and family (even though they are few and far between). However, she loves calling Manhattan home. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Ben (who is a PhD student in Physics), cooking, playing sports, and meeting new people.

Mandy is thrilled about the opportunity to be a part of the changing Jardine Community. She looks forward to getting to know as many residents as possible!

 

 

Maggie Fisher- Resident Assistant

Maggie is starting her senior year at K-State and her second year at jardine. She is excited to meet even more people in this diverse atmosphere. Maggie is majoring in Elementary Education with a concentration in ESL and Social Sciences. Since she loves kids so much, Maggie has been involved in numberous events with kids here at Jardine including Tutoring, Playgroup, and Summer Reading Program. Originally from Prairie Village, Kansas, Maggie likes to run, scrapbook, and watch movies in her spare time. She looks forward to another exciting year here in Jardine!

 

 Jonah Nelson- Resident Assistant

Jonah is a Senior in Horticulture, with an emphasis in Landscape Design. Originally from Kansas City, KS, Jonah got married this summer to the love of his life, Andrea, who he has known since sixth grade. Jonah and Andrea are excited to be part of the Jardine community, as they love to meet people and get involved. In his free time, Jonah lokes to play soccer, basketball and being in the great outdoors.

 

 

 

Community Development Staff

Deborah Kohl - Coordinator for Community Development

Deborah has just begun her eighth year at the Jardine Apartment Complex, and sixth year in the position of CCD. As a graduate student she fell in love with the Jardine community, and as the redevelopment project has unfolded it has been a huge blessing for her to serve the residents and staff in transition. Deborah came to the complex to finish her M.S. in English Education following two and a half years as a high school English teacher, and on occasion still dreams of teaching Romeo & Juliet and To Kill A Mockingbird. A mother of four children  (Zane, Ezekiel, Tirzah Joy, and Ezra who will be arriving this September ), and wife to Ben, Deborah finds plenty to keep herself busy. The Kohl family loves to put on the purple and attend football and basketball games—as well as many of the other events in the Manhattan community—and are proud to make the “Little Apple” home.

Pat Caruso-Assistant Coordinator for Community Development

Pat Caruso is thrilled to begin his second year as the Assistant Coordinator for Community Development. Pat is originally from Chicago, Illinois, and went to Marquette University for his undergrad work, where he majored in German.  Outside of work, Pat spends his time watching movies, running, and cooking.  Pat is looking forward to helping build community at Jardine!
