Paving again postponed--September 5, 2008

Due to the inclement weather, the paving that was rescheduled for today has once again been rescheduled for Tuesday, September 9th. If you have any questions, please contact the Jardine Apartments office or your neighborhood staff member. Thank you again for your patience!



 

Paving pushed back--September 4, 2008

Due to a change in the contractor's schedule, the paving that was scheduled to take place today, September 4th, will be postponed until tomorrow, September 5th. Thank you for your patience!



Street paving this week--September 2, 2008

 

Weather permitting, a new layer of asphalt will be laid on Kerr Drive on Thursday, September 4, 2008. Work will begin at 8 am and should be completed by 5 pm. Paving will begin north on Kerr at the intersection of Kerr and Hillcrest and continue west towards Denison.

During this time you will need to follow road crew member instructions for driving and parking on Kerr. There may be times on Thursday that you are unable to drive on Kerr or move your vehicle. If you are parked directly in front of Building 12, between Building 7 and 8 on the east side, please plan accordingly and move your car to another location.

This temporary inconvenience is necessary to allow a new layer of asphalt to be laid, improving the condition of Kerr Drive.

Scheduled Gas Outage--June 30, 2008

On Tuesday, July 1st, between 8:00 am and 3:00 pm, the gas will be turned off. This temporary shut down in necessary to allow for the installation of a new valve.

This interruption of service will affect your cook stove if it is gas and hot water.

Maintenance staff will be entering apartments in buildings S and V to relight pilot lights following the restoration of gas service. The relight will only take a few moments and they will not be leaving a notice.

We are sorry for the inconvenience. As always, residents are welcome to come to the Frith Community Center during this time.

Striping to begin--May 21, 2008

Please be aware that on Wednesday,  May 28th, the new asphalt which was laid along the east side of Hillcrest Dr. will be striped with parking spaces.

On May 29th, the same work will be done on Kerr Drive from Roof Drive to Hillcrest. This work will be done between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm barring any unforseen circumstances.

All cars parked on the east side of Hillcrest Drive between Jardine Drive and Kerr Drive an on both sides of Hillcrest from Kerr Drive to Building #11 will need to be parked in an alternative space on May 28th by 8 am.

All cars parked from Jarvis Drive to Hillcrest Drive (which is both sides of Kerr Drive from Building J to Hillcrest Drive) along Kerr Drive will need to be parked in an alternative space on May 29th by 8 am.

If there are any vehicles remaining in these spaces, they will be relocated at the owner's expense.

 

 



Asphalt Arriving-- April 21, 2008

We are so excited to let you know that new asphalt for parking spaces will be laid starting tomorrow, Tuesday, April 22nd. The planned schedule is as follows:

 

Tuesday, 4/22, Kerr between Harry Rd. and Jarvis Dr.

Wednesday, 4/23 Kerr (both sides) between Harry Rd. and Hillcrest Dr.

Thursday, 4/24 Hillcrest Dr. (both sides) all spaces north of Kerr Dr. intersection; Hillcrest Dr. (east side only) all spaces north of Jardine Dr.

 

If your vehicle is parked in this area, please move it before the date and time listed above. If there are any vehicles remaining in the above mentioned area, they will be relocated at the owner's expense. Any questions regarding this update, please contact Jardine Apartment Office for clarification.

Sprucing up for spring--April 3, 2008

 

An update on work that may be happening outside of your building within the next few weeks:

The contractor will be preparing the air conditioner vents on the outside of the building for Spring by installing filters. This will involve a lift and a worker removing the vent and installing a filter and then reinstalling the vent.

The emergency phone in the West End located between buildings V and 10 is operational. Within the next two weeks the emergency phone in the Denison neighborhood will be operational as well.

Landscape crews continue to place sod through the complex beginning with the Denison side and moving west. You may also notice staff replacing plants that did not survive the severe winter weather.

 

We are also looking forward to the asphalt contractor, Schilling, opening for business and to be on site within the next two weeks to lay asphalt and finish off parking spaces.

Sidewalk Improvements--March 8, 2008

Spring is quickly approaching, and with the improvement of the weather, on Monday, March 10, at 8:00 am work on the sidewalks at the intersection of Hillcrest Dr. and Kerr Dr. will resume. As the work is completed on the intersection the project will continue down the south side of Kerr next to U and R buildings. 

Please remove your car if it is parked in the spaces between the corner and the space marked with the orange barricade. Any cars remaining in this area at 8:00 am Monday will be towed at the owner's expense. If you choose to park on the south side of Kerr as the work progresses, be prepared to move your car on short notice. It is recommended that you move your car to a different parking area during these improvements.

New Construction: Filter Change-- January 7, 2008

On January 8, 9, and 10, your neighborhood GMRT (General Maintenance &
Repair Technician) will be replacing the filters of HVAC units in new
construction only.  This work will be completed between 9 a.m. and 4
p.m., and the process should take no longer than 10 minutes.  The GMRT
will need clear access to the filter panel on your wall, so please move
any items that may obstruct access.

Wash House Updates--December 5, 2007

We are in the process of putting new machines in the laundry facilities and, at the same time, completing some general maintenence in each building. Below you will find the timeline in which we are hoping to have the work completed:

Wash House #4 (located between buildings M&N) Currently closed. Scheduled to reopen on Monday, December 10th.

Wash House #3 ( located between buildings H&I) Will close on December 10th. Scheduled to reopen Monday, December 17th.

Wash House #2 (located between buildings F&G)Will close on December 18th. Scheduled to reopen on Monday, January 7th.


This timeline is subject to change, and we will update you if changes arise.

Paving Updates--December 5, 2007

The new pavement scheduled on Wednesday December 5th has been rescheduled to Friday, December 7th. Beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 5 p.m. the new pavement will be laid in the parking area along the north side of Kerr Dr. between Hillcrest and Harry Rd. adjacent to building "P" and "Q".

If your vehicle is parked in this area, please move it before the date and time listed above. If there are any vehicles remaining in the above mentioned area, they may be relocated at the owner's expense. These improvements are dependent on good weather conditions. We regret the short notice and appreciate your cooperation.



 

Wash House Closing-- December 3, 2007

Please be aware that on Tuesday, December 4th, Wash House #3, which is
located near H and I buildings, will be closed starting at 12 noon and
will reopen on Wednesday, December 12th.  This temporary closure is
necessary to update the facilities with new washers and dryers.

Parking and Sidewalks-We need your help!-- November 30, 2007

 

We are preparing to wrap up the completion of  sidewalks and repaving some parking throughout the complex. With the threat of winter weather we will have limited time frames to schedule and complete this work. Over the next two weeks please be aware that you may need to move your car to an already resurfaced part of the complex. We will, in most cases, be giving 24 hours notice, but in order to complete the work in that time-frame we will need everyone’s help and cooperation.

Please be checking the listserv, website, and your cars windshield frequently over the next few days to see if your vehicle will need to be moved.

 



Improvements-- November 26, 2007

Please remember that parking along the north side of Kerr St. adjacent to Building P and Building Q needs to be vacant today for the installation of new sidewalks for this street.

On the south side of Kerr St. adjacent to Building F and Building J we will be having new pavement installed tomorrow, November 27th, but preparation work needs to be done today. Please move your vehicle if it is parked in this area.

We are sorry for the short notice on these improvements, but are trying to take advantage of the last of the good weather to make walking along Kerr St.  a better experience for the winter months.  Thank you for your cooperation and if you have questions, please contact the Jardine Apartments Office.



Wash House Closure-- November 26, 2007

Please be advised that WashHouse #4 which is located between Building M
and Building N will be closed beginning today, November 26th, until
work is completed.  All old washers and dryers will be removed and
replaced with new machines.  The work is expected to be completed at
the end of the week unless unforseen circumstances arise.  This wash
house will reopen on Monday, December 3rd.

We are sorry for the short notice and hope this improvement will be
worth the inconvenience.   If you have questions regarding this matter,

Wash House #2 Closed Today--November 9, 2007

Please be advised that there is a need to repair a water line in the
area of Wash House #2.  Today, November 9th, it will be necessary to
shut the water off beginning at 9:00 am.  Water will remain off until
these repairs are complete.  Unless unexpected delays occur, this
project should be completed by the end of the day.

After the repairs have been completed and the water has been turned back
on, the water may be cloudy or rusty.  Be aware that water in the wash
house may be dirty for a little while so you may only want to wash dark
things until it clears up.  Remember that you have access to other area
wash houses by using your key.

Updates on Locks-- November 2, 2007

New Construction - Due to the time change, Housing
and Dining staff will be coming around to all new construction
apartments on Sunday, November 4th to reprogram the time codes on your
door locks.  They do not need to enter your apartment to complete this
process.

Traditional/Renovated - If you have not yet picked up your mailbox key
and mailroom keycard, please do so.  Soon all leftover keys will be
returned to the lockshop and there will be a 24 hour wait to pick up
your mail keys.



Parking in Tunstall Circle-- November 1, 2007

 

Beginning on Tuesday, November 6th, completion work will begin on the circle drive area south of the Frith Community Center. Asphalt will be laid in the east end of the new parking lot and the west side will be resurfaced. Lines will be painted, meters installed, and signs posted.

 

To make the completion of this project possible, all cars must be moved no later than 12:00 noon on Monday, November 5th. Please make sure that your car is moved from the circle drive parking area by this time to avoid a towing charge. This lot will remain closed until the finish of the lot. It is our expectation that this lot will be complete and ready for parking starting Monday, November 12th.

Planned Water Outage-- October 10, 2007

Due to necessary repairs, water to buildings Q & R will  be shut off on Friday October 12, 2007 from 9 am to 5 pm.   During this time you are
welcome to come to the Frith Community Center and get water if needed.  We apologize for the inconvenience. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Jardine Apartments Office.



Heating Unit Filter Replacement - October 1, 2007

 

Please be advised that Housing and Dining Facilities Maintenance staff
will be replacing the filters in the Heating and Air Conditioning unit
in your apartment between Wednesday, October 3rd and Friday, October
5th.

This will involve opening the HVAC unit door and exchanging the filter.
We ask that you have all personal items removed from in front of this
door to enable our staff to quickly enter the apartment and replace the
filter. This process will occur twice a year.



New Fire Extinguishers and Light Bulbs for Traditional and Renovated Apartments - October 1, 2007

Please be advised that Housing and Dining Facilities Maintenance staff
will be exchanging light bulbs and fire extinguishers in your apartment
between Monday, October 8 and Wednesday, October 10.

This will involve removing the fire extinguisher from the closet door
and replacing it with a new fire extinguisher under the kitchen sink.
It will also involve switching out the incandescent  (round) light
bulbs in your apartment.

We are sorry for the inconvenience but hope this improvement will be
worth it. Maintenance hopes to have repairs completed by October 10th.



Temporary Water Outage-- September 19, 2007

To continue the connection of new water lines, the water will be shut off to Buildings G, F, and Wash House #2 on Thursday, September 20th, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.  Please come to the Frith Community Center for water if needed.  Please check your water periodically to see if water service has been restored.

 



 

 Landscaping and Lights--September 13, 2007

In the Denison Neighborhood, work continues on the water feature, area underground sprinkler systems are being installed, and sod will quickly follow this installation.


As you look around you, you will begin to see new lighting going up in all neighborhoods. Some of this will be temporary lighting to be followed by permanent lighting at a later date and the rest will be permanent lighting but all will help to brighten up our area.



Building 7 Mailroom up and running-- September 11, 2007

 

The mailroom in Building 7 is now up and running and is open from 7:30am to 11:30 pm each day. We hope to have it accessible via keycard 24 hours a day within the next week.

 Tunstall Circle Demolition--August 29, 2007

 

Demolition on the east portion of Tunstall Circle will begin on Tuesday, September 4th at 8:00 am. This is the area south/southeast of the Frith Community Center. The new parking spaces along the west side of Tunstall Circle will be complete and ready for parking sarting Saturday, September 1. You will need to make sure your car is moved from the area on the east side to the area on the west side to avoid having your vehicle towed.

Upcoming Road Improvements-- August 28, 2007

 

Please be aware that the following street closures are scheduled to allow repairs to noted streets:

 

Wednesday 8/29/07- Roof Drive at the intersection of Jardine Drive

 

Thursday 8/30/07- Hillcrest Drive between Buildings #10 and #13

 

Friday 8/31/07- South side of the intersection of Hillcrest Drive and Kerr Drive

 

All closures will begin at 8:00 am and will be completed by 9:00 am the following day. We are sorry for the inconvenience but are confident that these improvements will be worth it. If you have questions, please contact the Jardine Apartments Office.

 

 



Mail Delivery For New Construction--August 20, 2007

 

As you are aware, the completion of the mailroom is on hold until the US Post Office is able to install locks on the mailboxes provided. We are assured the locks have been ordered and are on their way.

In the meantime, we are establishing limited mail service from Building 7. Beginning Tuesday, August 21, 2007, you can pick your mail up at Building 7 (2012 Tunstall Circle) in the mail room during the hours listed below:

Mailroom Hours
Monday-Friday 9-11 am, 1-3 pm, 4:30-6:30 pm

 

To pick up your mail you will need a photo I.D. The mail can only be picked up by the resident to whom the mail is addressed. Packages will still be distributed at the main Post Office until the final completion of the mail room. There is an outgoing mail receptacle in the mailroom from which you can mail letters.

 



 

Important Postal Service Update--August 14, 2007

 

At this time the US Postal Service does not have the components they
need to have the mail room up and running.  They have ordered the
supplies and they are in route.  In the meantime mail is being held at
the main post office on Leavenworth.  If you are residing in new
construction you can pick your mail up from the main post office and we
hope to have the postman on site to distribute mail for a short time
each day. If you are in traditional and renovated apartments your mail
will continue to be delivered to your building until such time it can
be switched over to the main post office. We will provide updates as
soon as we have additional information.  Our apologies for the
inconvenience.



Parking Change-- July 27, 2007

 

Several parking stalls have been blocked off in front of D building on Roof Drive to enable the installation of new water lines. Please park in the new parking lots along Kerr Drive until August 1.



Unexepected Electricity Outage --July 27, 2007

 

Buildings Q, P, and W will be experiencing a brief interruption in electricity service this afternoon. Westar Energy is repairing a damaged electrical line and will need to cut power for not longer than 15 minutes this afternoon. They can not give us an exact time for the interruption. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

 



 Development On Hillcrest--July 17, 2007

 

Good News! There will be a major parking lot clean up push as new spaces will be striped and ready to go the end of this week. Please DO NOT park on HILLCREST DRIVE this Saturday, July 21 so the contractors can clean up and re-level those spaces.

If you are currently parked on KERR DRIVE you will need to move your car to the new parking areas on Sunday and Monday so the contractor can clean up Kerr on Tueseday.

Gas Outage-- July 12, 2007

 

 

There will be a gas outage to building D from 9 am to 4 pm on Friday, July 13. This outage will affect your cookstove and the hot water in the building. If you have questions, please contact the Apartments' office.

 



Planned Gas Outage (Buildings D and E)-- July 3, 2007


On Friday, July 6th, between 9 am and 5 pm, the gas will be turned off. This temporary shut down is necessary to allow for connecting new gas lines.

The interruption of service will affect your cook stove if it is gas and hot water.

Watch the web site for news as to when the gas service is restored as this may happen earlier than 5 pm.
 

Temporary Gas Shut Down--June 1, 2007

We will be experiencing a gas shut down on Tuesday, June 5th beginning at 9 am.  This will affect your hot water and cook stove.  The work is scheduled to take somewhere between 3 to 6 hours and service will be restored before 5 pm.  Thank you.

 

Water Service Restored--May 23, 2007


As of 2:15 pm water has been restored to all buildings, with the exception of S. The planned outage for S building will continue until 5 pm. In all buildings affected by water outage, you may need to run the water in your apartment for a few moments to clear sediment from the line. If water clarity does not return within a few minutes, please contact housing maintenance.


Unplanned Water Outage--May 23, 2007


Buildings T, V, Y, X, R, U, P, Q, W:

The contractor has hit a valve and water is currently off to your buildings. They are working on it and water will be restored as soon as possible. Please feel free to come to the Frith Community Center for water during this time. GOOD NEWS ABOUT Cable Service Interruption-- May 22, 2007


THIS OUTAGE HAS BEEN POSTPONED, WE WILL LET YOU KNOW THE DATE FOR WHICH IT WILL BE RESCHEDULED.


Due to the Jardine construction, it is necessary to move our fiber-optic cables to a new location within Jardine. On Thursday, May 24th, between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm cable TV and cable modem service to all buildings within the Jardine complex will be out. Buildings will return to service as the fiber is spliced back together throughout the day. All buildings should be back in service by 5:00 pm. Planned Gas Shut Down-- May 22, 2007



A gas shut down has been scheduled for Friday, May 25 from 10 am to 5 pm. This work is necessary to repair the gas line serving the west side of Jardine. The shut down will affect the following buildings: Frith, Building 9, T, S, R, U, Q, P, V, W, X, and Y. The shut down will affect your cook stove and hot water. As soon as the repair is made the line will be restored and gas service will be fully functional. In buildings V and X it may be necsessary for housing Maintenance to enter your apartments to relight your pilot light for you. Scheduled water outage--May 18, 2007


The water to X building will be off on Wednesday, May 30, from 9 am -12 pm to continue work on new water lines. Please feel free to come to the Frith Community Center for water during this time.

Additional Planned Water Shutdown--May 18, 2007


Water to building S will be shut down from 9 am to 4 pm on Wednesday, May 23rd to allow for work on new water lines. During this time please feel free to come to the Frith Community Center for water.
 

Scheduled Water Outage--May 18, 2007


On Monday, May 21 from 9 am to 4 pm the water to building F, G and wash house 2 will be shut down. This shut down is necessary to finish work on a new water line. Please feel free to come to Frith Community Center for water throughout the day.

 

Fences coming down--May 16, 2007


Fences will be coming down around the community as buildings near completion. Please proceed with caution.

Parking Closure-- May 16, 2007


All parking on the east side of Hillcrest Dr. by P building will be closed on Friday, May 18th. Cars should be moved no later than Friday at 6 am from this area to allow for gravel fill which will bring the parking area level with the asphalt on Hillcrest.

Cars may be parked on the west side of Hillcrest or by U or X building until this work is completed.

 

 Quiet Hours for Finals Week-- May 1, 2007


The contractors will be observing quiet hours during finals week, keeping noise to a minimum before 9 am each day between May 7-11.

 

Upcoming Road Closures- May 1, 2007


Denison Avenue will be down to two lanes beginning May 14 to allow for site work improvements between Jardine Drive and Kerr Drive.

Jardine Drive will be closed beginning May 18 between the corner of Denison Avenue and Roof Drive. This closure will be necessary to complete site work.

Tunstall Circle Construction-- April 28, 2007

On May 2, 2007, work will begin on the new parking lot being constructed south of the Frith Community Center.  Fences will be moved to accommodate this work.  Please refer to the  map located here for specific locations.  To make this work possible, all vehicles will need to be moved from Harry Rd in front of Buildings T and S no later than noon on May 1st.  Some alternate parking locations would be along Jardine Dr., the gravel lot located at the end of Jardine Dr adjacent to building Y, and along the west side of Jarvis Dr.  Any vehicles that are not moved by this time will be removed at the owner’s expense.

 

Due to this construction, please enter the Frith Community Center, Jardine Apartments Office, using the east door.

Wash House #5 Closing Tuesday--April 20, 2007


Please be aware that on Tuesday, April 24th, wash house #5 (located near RSTUV buildings) will be closed starting at 9:00 am and will remain closed until the work is completed. It is anticipated that work will be completed no later than 5:00 pm. This closing is necessary to allow the connection of sewer lines.

Parking improvements along Hillcrest and Kerr Drives--April 5, 2007


The gravel parking lots along Hillcrest Drive  and Kerr Drive to the
corner of Harry Road will be closed for improvements on Monday, April
9th.  These improvements will include replacing gravel and smoothing
parking spaces that have been affected by the wet weather.  Please find
an alternate place to park your vehicle for this day.  This project
should be completed no later than 5:00 pm unless complications arise.  
Any cars that are not moved will interfere with this improvement
project.  We need your assistance to allow the contractor to complete
this work.

Phase 1-A begins this week-- April 4, 2007

Construction phase 1-A of the redevelopment begins this week and will start to see a lot more activity along the edges of the community, outside of the clearly defined construction areas. This phase includes landscaping, hardscaping (sidewalks, paths, etc.) and permanent parking. Please take extra care as you are making your way through the community during phase 1-A, and lets look forward to some permanent places to park!

 

Temporary Parking Lot Complete--March 22, 2007


The new temporary gravel parking lot between "F" and "J" buildings is
complete!  Feel free to park in this lot at your convenience. Please
remember if you have a vehicle parked along Kerr Dr, all vehicles must
be moved no later than 6:00 am tomorrow, Friday, to allow for the
improvement of parking along this street.  If you have questions,
contact the Jardine Apartments Office.

Fence Removal-- March 14, 2007


The fences around building 11 (between buildings P and W) will be coming down in the next few days to make way for sidewalks and landscaping. Please continue to take caution when in the area of building 11.

Parking  Improvement--March 14, 2007


On Wed. March 21 construction will begin on a temporary parking lot between buildings J and F this lot is to be completed by Thursday, March 22 so that any cars parked along Kerr Drive can be moved into the new temporary lot. 

On Friday, March 23,  crews will go down Kerr drive smoothing and leveling the ground and filling in with gravel. Cars which are normally parked on Kerr will need to be moved so that this work can be completed. If your car is not moved from Kerr by Friday it will be towed.

Cars parked by buildings P and W on what remains of Hillcrest Drive will  also need to be moved on Friday so that those spaces can be filled in with gravel as well.

In addition the street cleaner will be making several passes on Kerr in an attempt to get mud cleared away.

Unplanned Water Shut Off- D Building-- February 23, 2007


The water has been shut off temporarily due to a water break in your area. This was not a planned shut off. Service should  be restored by mid-afternoon today. You are welcome to come to the Frith Community Center to get water during this time.

Planned Water Outage- F, G, J Buildings --February 22, 2007


Please be advised that there is an unscheduled waterline repair necessary in your area. Tomorrow, February 23rd, it will be necessary to shut off your water beginning at 9:00 am. It will remain off until the repair is complete. Unless unexpected delays occur, this project should be completed by mid afternoon. You are welcome to come to the Frith Community Center to fill your own containers with water during the day. 

Scheduled Road Closure--January 4, 2007


On Friday, January 5, 2007, Harry Rd. will be closed southwest of the Frith Community Center and in front of Building #9. Work will begin at 6:00 am and will be completed by the end of the day unless unforeseen circumstances arise. Contractors will be crossing the road at the intersection of Jardine Dr. and Harry Rd. to install water line.

If you use the parking area by T building and the Frith Community Center, please move your vehicle to another parking area if you will be needing to use your vehicle on the 5th. Any cars remaining in this parking area will be unable to exit while work is being done.



Planned Water Service Interruption--January 4, 2007


Please be advised that on Friday, January 5th, between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm housing maintenance staff will be making a repair to the hot water heater in "Q" building. To make this repair, it will be necessary to shut down the hot wwater fora period of of to 2 hours. Also, this may result in some dirty or rusty water. If this occurs, please run some water through your faucet. If it continues, please run some water through your faucet. If it continues, please4 contact the maintenance office at 532-6466 to advise them that you are having a problem.

Water Main Break-- January 4, 2007

There has been a water main break which is affecting buildings P,U,W, and X. A crew is on the scene and is working to determine the cause and exact location of the break. Once this is clear we will have an estimate on how long it will take to fix. Please feel free to come by the Frith Community Center if you are in need of water.

Utility Work Around the Frith--December 19, 2006


December 26th-January 2nd there will be extensive utility work surrounding the Frith Community Center. During this time the office will be closed and the community center unavailable for use. All parking along the east side of the community center and the south side along Jardine drive will be closed during this time. This work is necessary to install new water and gas lines. Wash House #5, located between buildings U and V will be closed December 26-January 2 as crews install new water line.

Planned Power Outage in Frith--December 13, 2006


Today, December 13th, there will be no electrical service to the Jardine Apartments Office/Frith Community center or the Jardine Welcome Center starting at 10:00 am. We anticipate this electrical work to be completed no later than 2:00 pm. Phone service and computer service into these buildings will be interrupted during this time. Also, there will be no lights or heat in the building, so if you plan to come to the Frith, please avoid the above mentioned hours. Housing Maintenace will not be affected by this outage. 



On the lookout--December 7, 2006


Please keep in mind that if you observe contractor vehicles speeding or driving in an unsafe manner it is very helpful if you can give a description of the vehicle (such as color, type of vehicle, name on side, etc.) when notifying us of these incidents. This will allow the general contractor to be more successful when addressing these situations.

There are temporary gravel parking spaces at the east entrance of the Frith Community Center which are now available.

 

Parking on Hillcrest--December 7, 2006


Please be aware that starting Monday, December 11th, the parking adjacent to "U" building along Hillcrest Drive will be closed to allow for the installation of a new water line. Parking will reopen on Saturday, December 16th. Pleae make sure that all vehicles have been moved before Monday.



Finals Week Construction--November 28, 2006


During finals week, December 11th-December15th, contractors will be working to reduce construction noise before 9:00 am and after 7:00 pm.




West Frith Entrance Closed--November 28, 2006


Beginning Wednesday, November 29th, the west entrance of the Frith Community Center, located on Harry Road will be closed for utility line installation. It will reopen on Monday, December 4th. During this closure, please use the newly created sidewalk to enter the building at the east entrance.

Construction area reminder--November 21, 2006


Please remember that you should ABSOLUTELY NOT park in the fenced in construction areas under any circumstances. Please do not walk or drive through the construction areas, even if the fences are open.

During the Thanksgiving holiday there will be a reduction in the workers on site with the exception of framing in the west end. Enjoy your break! 



Gas Outage for D and E buildings--November 17, 2006


There will be a scheduled gas utility outage for Monday, November 20th, 2006. The shutoff will last from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and will effect buildings D and E. Please check back on the website on Monday to see if the gas comes back on earlier.




New Surface on Kerr Tomorrow-- November 15, 2006

Weather permitting a new layer of asphalt will be laid on Kerr Drive on Thursday, November 16th. Work will begin at 8 am and be completed by 5 pm.  Paving will begin north on Kerr at the intersection of Kerr and Hillcrest and continue west towards Denison. During this time you will need to follow road crew member instructions for driving and parking on Kerr. There may be times on Thursday that you are unable to drive on Kerr or move your vehicle. Please plan accordingly and move your car to another location should you need access during the time the pavers are near your location. This temporary inconvenience is necessary to allow a new layer of asphalt to be laid improving the condition of Kerr Drive.




Construction During Finals Week--November 15, 2006

During finals week the contractor will be making efforts to reduce noise before 9 a.m. During the week of December 11-15 if you are disturbed by construction related noise prior to 9 am please contact Housing Maintenance at 532-6466 and they will follow up with the contractor.



East Frith Entrance Open-- November 15, 2006

The East entrance to the Frith Community Center has reopened. A temporary sidewalk is in place with a permanent one soon to follow. 



Revised Street Closings--November 13, 2006

The following change has occurred regarding upcoming road closings:  

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the work which was originally scheduled
for the week of November 6th was not completed. Therefore, on Monday,
November 13th, contractors will be crossing Kerr Dr at a point between
the two driveways of Edwards Hall. There will be no exit onto Denison
from Kerr Dr. but Roof Dr will be open for use. On Tuesday, November
14th, contractors will be crossing Kerr Dr at Harry Rd. On the 14th,
if you park west of Harry Rd, please enter and exit on Hillcrest Dr.;
if you park east of Harry Rd, please enter and exit on Roof Dr. These
closings should be reopened the following morning.

New Parking by Y building--November 9, 2006

 The new additional parking next to Y building at the corner of Jardine Drive and Hillcrest Drive has been completed.



Kerr Drive closed for resurfacing--November 9, 2006


On November 16th and 17th, Kerr Drive will be closed to allow for resurfacing. All cars must be removed from along this street to make this a successful project. If your car remains, there is a risk of damage to your vehicle such as asphalt splatters, rock chips, etc. Also, once work has begun, you will not be able to move your car until the work is completed and the street is released for public use.


Planned Gas Outage-- November 8, 2006

On Thursday, November 9th, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, the gas will be shut off to buildings RSTUVWXY and wash house #5. Please watch the Jardine website for new as to when gas service is restored as this may happen earlier than 5:00 pm.



Parking Instructions for November 9th-- November 8, 2006

On November 9th, in addition to the previously scheduled crossing at Edwards Hall, contractors will be crossing Kerr Drive at Harry Road. If you park west of Harry Road, please enter and exit on Hillcrest Drive. If you park east of Harry Road, please enter and exit on Roof Drive.



 Upcoming Street Closings--November 6, 2006

There will be several street closings beginning during the week of November 6th. These closings will last for 1 day only unless unexpected delays occur. During these closings, please use the Hillcrest Dr fenced area with caution to enter and exit when necessary.

East Entrance of Frith Closed--November 6, 2006

 Starting Monday, November 6th, the east entrance to the Frith Community Center will be closed and  parking along both sides of Jarvis Dr will be reduced to install storm sewer line. This area will be reopened on Monday, November 13th, unless unexpected delays occur.


Gas Service Temporarily Off-- November 1, 2006

The gas in parts of the West End Neighborhood has been shut off temporarily due to some line work in building 14. We are unsure which buildings in the West End may be affected, but service should be restored by noon today at the latest. If you have questions, please contact the Jardine Apartment Office. Frith Entrance Changing--October 31, 2006

Please be advised that Wednesday, November 1st, the Frith Community
Center west entrance door along Harry Road will be closed from 8:00 am
till 7:00 pm. Please use the east entrance located on Jarvis Dr. Both
entrances will reopen on Thursday, November 2nd. Thank you for your
cooperation.


Extra Parking--October 28th, 2006

New gravel parking is being created south of "Y" building and should be ready for use by Monday, November 6th, unless unexpected delays occur.

Frith Boardwalk-- October 28th, 2006

Due to the rainy weather, a temporary boardwalk has been installed at the east entrance of the Jardine Apartments Office to make walking easier.

Hillcrest-Kerr Intersection Closed-- October 28, 2006

Starting Monday, October 30th, Hillcrest Dr. will be closed from the junction of Kerr Dr. To the north adjacent to "W" building for utility line installation. Parking in front of "W" and the west side of "P" will also be closed. This project should be completed in approximately 2 weeks, weather permitting. If you are parked in front of "W" or the west side of "P", please make sure that your vehicle has been moved no later than 5:00 am on the 30th.

Washhouse #3 offline temporarily -- October 28, 2006


The water to washhouse #3 has been shut off temporarily for a tie in to the existing line elsewhere in the system. The water should be restored by this afternoon. Thank you for your patience.


Frith Community Center Entrance Changing- October 23, 2006

The east entrance to the Frith Community Center will be closed
temporarily to allow for utility lines to be isntalled. The entrance
should reopen on Monday, October 30th. Please use the west entrance
during this time. Thank you!



New Security Lights-- October 17, 2006



Two new security lights have been installed in our complex. One is located on J building and one is on F building. If you notice street lights which are not working in the complex, please let our staff know.


New Life at G and R Buildings-- October 17, 2006

New grass seed has been planted around G and R buildings, which should help cut down on mud in the spring.

Kerr Drive Improvements-- October 17, 2006

Kerr Drive will recieve a light repaving before winter and parking has been restored on that street.

Planned Water Outage-- October 17, 2006

There will be a planned water outage on Wednesday, October 18th, beginning at 10:00 am and lasting until 4 pm. This outage will affect FG and J building and Wash House #2. Thank you for your flexibility.

Roof Drive Closed--October 17, 2006

Please be advised that Roof Drive is closed at the Roof/Kerr intersection for replacement of concrete across the road. Kerr Drive is open and passable.



Planned Gas Outage-- October 4, 2006

On Thursday, October 5th, between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm, the gas will be shut off temporarily to buildings W, X, and Y. This temporary shut off is necessary to allow for the relocation of present gas lines to serve new buildings in the future. This interruption of service will affect your cook stove (W building has electric cooks stoves) and you hot water.

Emergency Water Shut Off--October 3, 2006


The contractor has hit a water line. In order to repair the line water will be off to buildings DEGFJL and Wash House 2 beginning at 3:30 pm. We anticipate service being restored by 7:00 pm this evening.

Roof Drive Clean Up--September 27, 2006

Clean up along Roof Drive from recent rains should begin this week.  Look for accumulated dirt to be removed.



CDC Parking--September 27, 2006

Parking along side Jardine Drive between the Child Development Center and Building G and on the East Side of Jarvis by CDC is reserved for CDC staff and parents picking up and dropping off children.  Residents should not park in these areas during the day.  If you are parked in either location you may be ticketed.



Water Outage--September 27, 2006.

On Saturday, September 30th from 10 am to 4 pm buildings D, E, F,G, J and L along with Wash House 2 will be without water.  This shut down is necessary to install new water line.  During this time the Frith Community Center will be open to residents to fill water containers and use restrooms.



Harry Road Closure--September 20, 2006

On September 26th and 27th, all parking on both sides of Harry Rd. north of the construction fence adjacent to R building will be closed. Please park at an alternate location. These temporary closures are necessary to allow new electrical line to be installed.

Streets Closed Temporarily--September 20, 2006

On Wednesday, September 20th, and  Thursday, September 21st, Kerr Drive will be closed at two points. The first point of closure will be the corner of Kerr Dr. and the east entrance to Edwards Hall. If you need to enter Edwards Hall (Parking/Police), please use the west drive and entrance. The second point of closure will be at the east corner of Kerr Dr. and Hillcrest Dr. If you are parked in this area, you will need to exit through the construction area fence. Please drive with caution.




Planned Gas Outage-- September 19, 2006


Gas to buildings RSTUVWXY will be shut off beginning at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 20th. We expect service to be restored by 4:00 pm that same day. This shutoff will enable Housing and Dining Maintenance staff to upgrade the gas valve system in your area.

This outage will effect the hot water and cook stove in your apartment and there will be no hot water or dryers in the wash house. (Note: Building W cook stove will not be effected as you have electric stoves). After the reparis have been completed Housing Maintenance staff will be entering some apartments to relight your xook stove pilot light. If you are not at home, they will enter your apartment, relight your stove and leave if there are no problems. They will not leave a notice that they have been in your apartment for this quick check.

V Building sidewalk closed--September 18, 2006


The sidewalk between V building and the wash house will be closed beginning Monday, September 18th, until completion of the utility line installation.

Hillcrest & Kerr Intersection Closed--September 15, 2006

Monday, September 18th, the intersection of Hillcrest Dr. and Kerr Dr. will be closed as the excavation proceedes across the road. All cars which are parked west of "U" building will need to exit through the construction fence to the south. No traffic will be allowed to the south. No traffic will be allowed to enter the construction fence area from the south. This closing is expected to last no more than one day unless there are unexpected delays.


Parking Lot Closed--September 8, 2006


All parking on the south side of Kerr Drive between buildings R and U will be closed beginning Monday, September 11. All cars must be moved to an alternate location before this date. Any cars which are not moved from parking spaces along the south side of Kerr Drive prior to September 11 will be towed at the owners expense.

This temporary closure is to allow new water line to be installed. This work is anticipated to be completed by September 22nd.

Temporary parking spaces have been created along Kerr. Drive adjacent to building P and parking in front of building J and F has been improved with gravel.

Walking through Jardine--August 30, 2006

When walking within Jardine, please keep to the sidewalks where available or the outer edge of the street when no sidewalk is available. Alwways be aware of your surroundings and watchful of construction traffic as well as other kinds of traffic.

Hillcrest Drive Closed--August 30, 2006

Hillcrest Drive is not open to the public or Jardine residents even when the gates are open. The fenced area is not to be entered for any reason. This area is for contrctors use only. For your safety, please do not cut through.

Drive with Caution--August 30, 2006

Due to the decrease in traffic on Roof Drive, the speed bumps have been removed. Please continue to drive with caution.

Parking Services Ticketing--August 30, 2006

Parking Services is  ticketing for the 2006/2007 school year. To avoid a fine, please display a valid K-State parking permit and park in appropriate spaces. Remember that Visitor Permits are not allowed on a resident's car.

Water Outage Monday-- August 24, 2006

On Monday, August 28, 2006, the water will be shut off from 10 am to 4 pm to buildings G, F, J and washhouse #2. This interruption is due to a water line repair for the redevelopment. IF you need water, you are welcome to come to the Frith Community Center.

Power Outage in X, Y, and U buildings-- August 24, 2006


The contractor has hit an electric line. Westar Energy is on site and working to restore power to your apartment. We hope to have this done as soon as possible today. Please feel free to use the Frith Community Center as needed. Power is out to buildings X, Y, and U.

Parking by P and Q-- August 4, 2006

Parking on the north side of Kerr Drive beside "P" building and "Q" will be blocked off until approximately August 21st. Temporary gravel parking lots will be added on the lawn space in front of "W" building. Specific spaces will not be marked, please park with room for your neighbors.

More on the water  -  30 June, 2006

Due to construction, the water in the washhouse may be rusty and cloudy from time to time. The good news is, there is a product which can be purchased at local retail stores that is designed to remove discoloration from clothing. The clarity of the water is not always in our control. Due to this challenge you may decide to patronize an outside laundry unitl we are through with the major construction of this project.



Construction on Jardine Drive  -  30 June, 2006

Contractors will be installing waterline along Jardine Drive starting Wednesday, July 5th. If necessary please park along Roof Drive or in the temporary lots to the west. This step of the project should be completed by the middle of the week of July 10th and parking restored.



Denison Avenue ConstructioN  -  26 June, 2006

Please be aware that the construction which is being completed on Denison Ave. is not being completed by our contractor. You will need to exercise extreme caution when approaching the construction on Denison, as the special safety practices implemented by our contractor are not standard for the industry and are not being implemented by the Denison Avenue contractor.



Extended Speed Bumps  -  26 June, 2006

The speed bumps will be extended to prevent cars from driving around them. Until this can be done, barrels have been placed to prevent swerving into parking stalls. This will help keep our residents safe.



Roof Drive Closing  -  26 June, 2006

Rooof Drive will be closed on Wednesday, June 28th, from 7 am to 6 pm Traffic will be rerouted to Hillcrest Dr. There is a small chance that parking will be reduced on Roof Drive during this time. This closing will be for one day only unless unforeseen circumstances occur.
